About G-Dad

G-Dad is more than a company, it’s a person – me.

When I found out that I was going to be a grandfather for the first time, I nearly leapt out of my seat with joy. Soon friends and family were asking me "what is the baby going to call you?" At the same time, my son expressed concern that I would need to be watchful of things I said and did around my grandchild. The thought came to me that one day I would get a call from my son and on the other end of the phone Iwould hear "Gee dad! What did you teach her this time?" This is how I became "G-Dad."

As my granddaughter's arrival approached, my wife and I started shopping in stores and on-line for baby gifts. I soon noticed that practically everything on t-shirts, hats, etc. had to do with grandmas, moms, dads, brothers, sisters, and even aunts and uncles. I knew immediately that I wouldn't look good in something for a Grandma andI was disappointed not to find items readily available for G-Dads like me.

When our granddaughter was born, my son gave me a hat with "G-Dad" embroidered on it. I wore it with pride and received many compliments about the phrase "G-Dad" from friends and strangers alike. I started talking about what to do to recognize granddads and their grandchildren. A year later my son founded this company, G-Dad LLC, to fill the void in the baby industry. I hope that you enjoy our products, and more importantly that you find a product to celebrate the joy that being a grandfather brings!
